Playlist: The Iconic Experience

It’s Friday and we love playlist! Curated by Philly’s own Icon Ebony Fierce, “The Iconic Experience” is inspired by the legendary djs of the 90s, and high glam drag. This mood boosting playlist blends deep house, garage, new jack swing, Detroit techno and hip house to brighten your day. The special thing about this playlist, is that it features a plethora of obscure and lesser known songs that may leave a distant memory for those that lived during those times, been to the many underground clubs or something new for music heads to fall in love with. This playlist is great to vogue with a glass of wine at home, blast in your car on your way to the club or even a surprise twist to your house party.

Icon Ebony Fierce (They/She) is a Philadelphia based performance artist that has one mission: to change people’s perception of artistic expression one subculture at a time. Icon has a background in theatre, dance, and spoken word performance. Icon has been community organizing, curating events all throughout Philadelphia since 2012. Icon also specializes in burlesque, performance art, and drag. Their content includes body positivity, political/social issues, gender equality, etc. They are also a curator for festivals like Phreak N Queer, Hot Bits Film Festival and more things always centering QTPOC people with an alternative point of view. Icon is currently a board member of the William Way Community Center and also works as a casting/event manager at Burd Events through Tabu Lounge & Sports Bar for drag and other queer events.
